The smooth ceramic tiles with small joints and grout lines are perfect for peel and stick smart tiles. If you aren t using peel and stick tiles you ll have to spread mastic on the subfloor using a notched trowel. And it lasts for 20 years. Over time the vinyl will sink or be pressed down into the contour of these depressions telescoping the grout joints from the ceramic tile installation all the way up through the vinyl tiles.

If you want to put vinyl peel and stick tile over ceramic tile and get good results you have to do something about those grout lines. With a good cleaning peel and stick smart tiles will stick on your kitchen or bathroom backsplash for as long as you want. The tiles can also slide if the mastic is too thick. No extra preparation is needed on a smooth surface. Although ceramic tile is not the ideal surface on which to install vinyl peel stick we have had plenty of customers who have dobe this successfully.
